Chances are if you regularly read the Co-op newsletter, you’re not only interested in the inner workings of your cooperative but perhaps have considered Board service, or at least wondered what it’s all about.
For over a year now, I have enjoyed serving on the Board and being part of the Member Linkage Committee (MLC), whose goal is to create and deepen connections with our member-owners, community, and Co-op staff.
The MLC meets monthly to discuss and plan ways for everyone to feel welcome and involved.
Before the pandemic, you would have found us at a table in the Co-op, perhaps with an enticing snack, always with a big smile, encouraging you to stop and chat.
These days, we’re having to be a lot more creative in finding ways to connect while remaining socially distanced.
We want to know and understand how your Co-op and this Board can best serve your needs as a member-owner. So, at our most recent MLC meeting, we were challenged to reflect a bit deeper about the tangible benefits of membership. The idea that this would be the year of listening came from that meeting.
If you appreciate the Co-op’s positive impact on our community, don’t just read the newsletter. We encourage you to take the next step towards active involvement:
- Come to an upcoming Board candidate information session on Zoom: Monday, March 14 & Tuesday, April 12 at 7 pm
- Attend special listening sessions and a member appreciation event hosted by your Board (dates and times to be announced)
- Join us for our next Board meeting and learn about our Ends. Even if Board service isn’t for you at this time, we’d love to see you!
To join an upcoming Board candidate information session on Zoom, email us at [email protected], and we’ll reply with the link. Can’t make either of those dates? One of our existing Board members would be happy to chat and tell you more about what it’s like to be on the board.
If you have ideas on guiding the success of our Co-op, we’re listening!
