On the last Friday in October, at Stonewall Farm, more than 100 Member-Owners joined our Board and members of the staff for the 12th annual meeting of our Cooperative. We enjoyed hors d’oeuvres prepared by our Prepared Food team and the company of friends, old and new.
We have so much to celebrate this year. We began with a welcome from Board President, Carolyn Crane. followed by a report from Michael Faber, General Manager, and David Sayles, Board Treasurer, on how our Co-op performed in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022.
An overview of the financial results for the year demonstrates that the store expansion has exceeded expectations with total sales in FY 2022 of more than $19 million.
The report focused largely on our Ends which are the reasons the Co-op exists and the many ways that our Co-op is making a difference for its members and the larger community.
The Board chose John Kondos as this year’s Cooperator of the Year. This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates a lasting commitment to cooperative principles. John has been a driving force behind efforts to further sustainable energy production in our region and a long-time supporter of the sustainability efforts at our Co-op.
Our guest speaker was Britt Lundgren who is the Director of Organic and Sustainable Agriculture at Stoneyfield Farm. Although Stoneyfield, the New Hampshire-based maker of organic yogurt is now part of a larger organization, the commitment to local, organic dairy farms remains a priority. Britt shared with us the work they are doing to support and develop the organic dairy industry in northern New England.
Finally, the members reelected Carolyn Crane to the Board along with electing new members Sandy Hamm and Nicole Flynn.
The evening ended with locally-made Frisky Cow Gelato and baked treats from Saxy Chef.
For those of you who were not able to join us, stay tuned for a video of the business meeting and presentation from Britt Lundgren.
