A Place at the Table Event Thank You

Thank you to all who made the viewing and discussion of the film “A Place at the Table” Sept. 24 at the Keene Public Library such a success — from the organizations that helped brainstorm how we could use the film to inspire community action, to the 80 individuals who participated in the event.

This event was part of Participant Media’s “Take Your Place” Social Action Campaign, an initiative to seed community conversations about hunger, obesity and food policy to inspire collective action. With support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 25 communities across the country hosted similar events throughout the summer and fall.

Many thanks to Barrie McClune from Active Voice who supported all aspects of planning this event, Bonnie Hudspeth of the Neighboring Food Co-op Association, Vicky Senni of the Brattleboro Food Co-op and Nancy McGartland of the Farmers’ Market of Keene for serving as panelists, Jaime Contois for moderating the event and Peggie Greenough for introducing us to this impressive film.

We also want to thank the following businesses and organizations for participating in the “Braintrust” to help plan for this event: Brattleboro Food Co-op, Children’s Alliance of New Hampshire, Community Garden Connections, C&S Wholesale Grocers, The Farmers’ Market of Keene, Healthy Monadnock 2020, Keene Community Kitchen, Keene State College Dietetic Program, Project HEAL, Putney Food Co-op and Transition Keene Task Force.

Finally, thank you to Nikki Sauber for drafting our Healthy Food for All directory and Ro-Anne Tasoulas, Mary Veerkamp, Joanne Fenton, Phoebe Bray and Kathy Burke for providing healthy snacks and other support on the night of this event.

Please join us for the next showing of “A Place at the Table” on Nov. 17, 1 p.m., at The Colonial Theatre in Keene, sponsored by Monadnock Farm & Community Coalition. Learn more at: aplaceatthetable-colonial-eorg.eventbrite.com.
