If you’ve stepped out of the heat and into the produce section lately, I’m sure you’ve noticed the abundance of local fruits and vegetables. During these summer days, it is incredible to see the variety of items that are grown by our local farmers and producers and to think of the impact this relationship has on the sustainability of our local economy and community. It’s no wonder we take time in August to Celebrate NH Eats Local Month!
These summer days have also been fruitful for the Board of Directors Nominating Committee. The committee has just finished up the process of endorsing a slate of nominees for this year’s Board candidates, which will be finalized at our Board meeting this month. Each year we endeavor to find diverse and driven candidates to run for three-year terms on the Board of Directors. When Member-Owners receive their ballots with their annual report this fall, they will have a bumper crop of individuals to pick from. This year the Board is excited to put forward five candidates, including one incumbent, to fill three seats that will be open. When you get your ballot please read up on the candidates and vote to take part in this hallmark of our Member-Ownership. Voting will take place in October, and then we’ll all gather together for our Annual Meeting on Friday, October 28th, where the results of the election will be announced.
If this update finds you wishing that you were one of the names we were considering for the ballot, fear not. The Board of Directors Nominating Committee is always seeking individuals that would be willing to run for seats in future elections. Information on the Board and the candidate process can be found here.
See you in the produce section, and perhaps for music and ice cream at our Monadnock Local Harvest Fest later this month!
