Warm greetings from the Member Linkage Committee! Our responsibilities include keeping our members informed about the activities and decisions made by the board.
Recently, the Board of Directors conducted a thorough evaluation of our Co-op’s business planning and financial budgeting policy. We are pleased to announce that we unanimously confirmed our compliance with these policies.
This confirmation holds great significance as financial planning plays a vital role in safeguarding our Co-op from financial risks. We have developed a comprehensive multiyear business plan that includes a well-crafted fiscal strategy to ensure our continued financial success. Moreover, our business plan extends beyond financial aspects and encompasses broader goals such as social and environmental objectives, incorporating activities aligned with our Ends policies.
Our General Manager is dedicated to steering our Co-op towards both short-term and long-term success, commencing with a realistic sales forecast. Expenses are allocated in proportion to projected revenue, enabling us to determine our income. Each department contributes to our growth by submitting an annual “dream sheet” that fuels improvements in our store. Additionally, a capital budget is prepared to replace equipment and support strategic initiatives. Our plan is comprehensive and proactive.
In the coming month, we have an important agenda item for review: staff treatment and compensation. Ensuring fair and equitable treatment of our staff is of utmost importance to us.
If you have any feedback or suggestions for the Board, we invite you to attend our meetings. We hold a Member Forum at the beginning of each meeting, starting at 4:45 pm on the 3rd Monday of every month. The meetings take place in the Co-op Community room, conveniently located near our cafรฉ.
Lastly, keep an eye out for future volunteer opportunities with the board. Your participation and contribution as a volunteer are highly valued and greatly appreciated.
