It’s NH Eat Local Month and we have three new NH-produced items to share with you!
HENNIKER BREWING CO Trail Buddy
BUDDIES: It’s hot. Get out there and make some shady friends. Maybe offer them the latest New Hampshire brew from HENNIKER made with Maine-grown hops. This English Summer ale has been a favorite at the summer brew fests. TRAIL BUDDY is light enough—3.8%—to crush all day but with more body than one would expect. Enjoy and remember to always drink responsibly.
BASCOM Shiitake Mushrooms
Allen, our produce manager, says these Shiitake mushrooms, from Bascom Farm in Charlestown, NH are the most beautiful Shiitakes he’s ever seen. 😍 Shiitake mushrooms are considered one of the healthiest foods and enjoy gourmet status in the culinary world, which is why they’re carefully produced through the labor-intensive method of forest farming on hardwood logs. Sliced and sautéed, like in this recipe, they release a tantalizing flavor unknown to other foods.
ME & OLLIE’S Granola Munch
Here’s the story directly from ME & OLLIE: Once upon a time (1998 to be exact), an old rock and roll drummer from the Midwest moved to New England and opened Me & Ollie’s bakery in Portsmouth, NH. Then one day while attempting to make granola bars with his three sons, he was caught day dreaming about peace signs, VW busses, and whatever else crunchy old rockers think about. Left to their own devices the three boys Max, Eli, and Ollie, struggled to keep the granola bars together. A few extra seeds here, a splash of vanilla there, a bit more honey to help it all stick together, but the granola kept falling apart into these crunchy, sweet and salty clusters. Sure, seemed unfortunate at first, but one taste and Granola Munch was born!
