Monadnock Community Market Co-op Board Announces Intent to Move Forward with Railroad Square Location for Downtown Food Co-op

The Monadnock Community Market (MCM) Co-op Board of Directors announces its intent to move forward with the Railroad Square property in Keene as the preferred site for the planned 12,000 square foot food cooperative.  This downtown location is a fundamental part of the Co-op’s mission – to be “accessible to all.”  Full site commitment and construction is contingent upon raising the necessary start-up capital and securing certain site specifications. If the necessary start-up capital is raised on schedule, the fully-stocked food store will open in 2012.

As a cooperative, the Monadnock Community Market is owned by its members and, as such, needs widespread community support to move forward and open on time.  Member equity, in the form of memberships and member loans, helps leverage the MCM Co-op’s start-up capital.  The MCM Co-op currently has 200 members and needs 1,000 members (or $200,000 of member equity) to open.

The Monadnock Community Market Co-op is a cooperatively owned food store that will focus on providing a diverse selection of local, organic, and natural foods to the Monadnock Region.
