The Monadnock Food Co-op will hold a month-long Round It Up donation drive for the Community Garden Connections (CGC) during October 2019. Customers can round up their change at the register to support the local food system, decrease food insecurity, and build community resilience in the face of climate change.
Since 2011, CGC has installed over 68 raised garden beds in collaboration with 13 social service agencies and nonprofits across Keene. In addition to these sites, CGC has rejuvenated a one-acre production garden at the County Complex in Westmoreland, NH. This site is run by students and community volunteers. The Westmoreland Garden Project donates 100% of its produce to the Community Kitchen of Keene. Since 2013, CGC has planted, tended, harvested, and donated over five tons of produce.
The funds raised during this donation drive will help CGC expand educational opportunities for gardeners, deepen their relationship with community partners, and continue to increase access to healthy food and healthy environments in the region.
