Welcoming in the New Year

The new year brings a fresh start and an opportunity to reflect upon and give thanks for all that has been accomplished while looking ahead to the future of our Co-op.

One of the ways is through the careful review of the Ends Monitoring Report. Each October, the General Manager reports to the Board of Directors on the Co-op’s impact on our community and beyond. This report also looks forward with a focus on the big picture.

Some of the highlights from 2023 include:
  • Our Round It Up scoring system has incorporated a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) metric, which empowers the Round It Up committee to gain insights into which community organizations are actively promoting a fair and equitable city and region.
  • Our Farm Fund now encompasses Farmland Protection to ensure vital farmland in our region is conserved for local food production for future generations. Emergency Disaster Relief was implemented this year; providing support for local farms affected by flooding and other climate-related emergencies.
  • Our Co-op recently became an approved Women Infants and Children (WIC) retailer, advancing our Co-op as a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place for all.
  • Our Food Production Facility now boasts 62 rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, and refrigeration upgrades to reduce energy consumption.
  • Our electric vehicle charging stations are underway and will be completed in early 2024.
  • Our staff, one of our most valuable assets and the heart of our Co-op, provide the best possible service to our customers and uphold our Ends. So, our General Manager and Human Resources team continue to find ways to create a workplace that people want to be a part of, from raising the base wage, adjusting pay rates, profit sharing, and promotions to recognition, celebrations, and more.

As we head into a new year, please join me in thanking our General Manager, staff, and Board of Directors (past and present) for an amazing 10 years of community impact. Only through our work together does our Co-op remain integral to the community and much more than just a grocery store.

Thank you to our Member-Owners, who are over 4,000+ strong. Without you, there is no Co-op. We welcome your involvement. We welcome and value your input. How can we serve you better? Please write to us at [email protected].
