November Board Updates

Gratitude and Stewardship encompassed the essence of this year’s Annual Meeting. We are grateful for the hard work and cooperative efforts of our staff, for the support of Member-Owners and our community, and for the generosity of all who supported the monthly Round It Up opportunities. All our little bits are making a big impact!

We gathered as Member-Owners, friends, and staff. General Manager, Michael Faber, shared detailed information on our Co-op’s financial health and considerations for its future. Member-Owners were provided the opportunity to ask questions with real-time responses. It was a time of sharing and learning.

Nominating Committee Chair, Trish Campbell, spoke about Board service and encouraged Member-Owners to explore the experience. All Board Members are happy to speak with interested individuals, or you can contact the board at [email protected]. She also thanked Aubrey Saxton and Nicole Mitchell for their service to the board as they ended their terms.

With 560+ votes cast, we welcomed Georgia Tasoulas, as well as incumbents Dee Fitzgerald and Ed Selby, to serve 3 years terms on the Board.  The newly revised By-Laws were passed and can be viewed at: monadnockfood.coop/our-co-op

Each year, the Co-op honors a Cooperator of the Year. This award is given out annually to recognize a Member-Owner, vendor, staff member, or Co-op partner who exemplifies cooperative values, integral to cooperatives throughout the world. These values include self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, solidarity, honesty, social responsibility, openness, and caring for others. This year, we were pleased to present this honor to Amanda Littleton, Cheshire County Conservation District Manager, for her partnership and dedication to the longevity and success of the Co-op. Coincidentally, she concluded our meeting with her presentation: Local Farm Stewardship.

Through Amanda’s program, attendees heard about ongoing conservation efforts, and heard directly from farmers about how they steward our local farmlands. She spoke of the land, people and resources that require support for long-term sustainability. As she finished, she challenged us all to examine how our choices as consumers of products from our incredible local farmers and producers is one of the important actions we can take to be active stewards in our daily lives.

It is good to gather and reflect on where we are and what is required to continue all our positive efforts.  This year’s annual meeting was no exception, and we look forward to welcoming you all again next year!

In Gratitude,

Sandy Hamm
