Making Local Happen: Annual Meeting is October 24

You won’t want to miss this year’s Monadnock Food Co-op Annual Meeting,  at the Keene Public Library’s Heberton Hall on Saturday, October 24th, from  5 – 8 p.m.

This year the event’s theme is “Making LOCAL Happen.”  There will be opportunities to taste the difference the Co-op makes in the local food system with samples of local beer, wine and cheese, a delicious dinner catered by the Co-op Deli using seasonal, locally-sourced produce, and cake baked from scratch by the folks at Mayfair Farm.

During her keynote address, Cheshire County Conservation District Manager Amanda Littleton will highlight the recent triumphs of agriculture and food production in the region, as well as the challenges we still need to work on.

The business meeting will cover details about our second full and financially successful year at the Co-op, notes on the impact of our business on local food producers, and other highlights of our young Co-op’s development.

Of course, the Annual Meeting is all about the Co-op’s member-owners. Here’s how you can help us make this year’s event a success:

1)    Nominate a candidate for the Cooperator of the Year award!
Do you know a member-owner, staff person or community partner who exemplifies cooperation and community building? Please tell us about this wonderful person! Submit your nomination here or pick up a nomination form at Customer Service by October 10.   This Co-op hero will be recognized at the Annual Meeting for all their hard work.

2)    Volunteer!
We will need plenty of cooperative hands to make this fun, delicious and informative event run smoothly! Help us set up, break down, sign people in, hand out T shirts, or help make photo booth props in the weeks before the event. To get involved, contact the board at [email protected].
And, of course…

3)    Vote!
Please turn in your ballot! Four candidates are running for three available seats on the Board of Directors.  On the same ballot please vote for the proposed changes to the Co-op’s By-laws (if you missed previous communication about this click here for more details).  Find ballots in-store and in the Annual Report mailed to all member-owners during the 4th week of September. Participate in the Co-op’s democratic process and turn in your ballot at the Co-op by 5 PM on October 24th or at the Annual Meeting by 5:30 PM on October 24th.

We look forward to this year’s gathering  and an opportunity to highlight the Co-op difference. Enjoy the company of your fellow Co-op member-owners, get up-to-date on our Co-op’s growth, and experience the delicious difference that our Co-op makes in the community.
