Democracy in Action: Co-op Board Nomination Period Open

The Monadnock Food Co-op Board of Directors seeks candidates for this year’s election. Three board seats are open for election every year. The board of directors monitors the operations of the co-op on behalf of its members. The board meets once a month for two hours and board members normally commit to serve on an internal board committee as well. Please read more details below.

To be a director, you must be a Monadnock Food Co-op member-owner. Directors elected in 2014 will serve three-year terms ending in 2017. The Board Nominating Committee oversees the slate of candidates, and there are two ways you can run for the board:

*

1. Nomination through the Board Nominating Committee
You can nominate yourself by submitting your name to the Board Nominating Committee via Joe Marks, board president, at [email protected]. Potential candidates will be asked to submit a statement of interest and qualifications. Nominations are due by August 15, 2014. The Board Nominating Committee will then review all candidates and create a slate of nominees at their discretion.

*

2. Nomination by Petition
If you would like to run by petition, you are required to collect the signatures of at least 50 other member-owners in good standing and submit your petition to the Nominations Committee. Candidates running by petition will be required to fill out an application packet and submit a digital photo. Informational interviews with the Nominations Committee are not required but are strongly suggested, and are available by appointment. Candidates may not submit petitions on behalf of another member-owner but only for themselves. Signed petitions are due by September 15, 2014.
