Hey, Check This Out! April 2018

In honor of Earth Day this month, here’s a few products we love that are especially earth-friendly in all facets of their businesses:

Rebel Green Laundry Detergent

Natural, biodegradable and USDA-certified organic, Rebel Green’s plant-based laundry detergent really cleans and is free from harmful chemicals and toxins. Scented with pure essential oils, it contains no synthetic fragrances, phosphates, phthalates, parabens or dyes. It’s also hypoallergenic and gentle enough for sensitive skin. Also, new on our shelves you’ll find a few more Rebel Green products: dishwashing liquid and household spray cleaner — so your dishes and counters — you know, those things you come in contact with every single day — can get beautifully clean without any toxic chemicals!

We love Rebel Green for not only making our homes a healthier place but for creating products that are specifically designed to minimize waste and motivate a fundamental shift in thinking about the planet we share. The products all use responsibly sourced materials. There’s more! A percentage of their sales go directly to clean air, clean water and clean food initiatives. Tierra Farm Organic Honey Sriracha Cashews

Mild hints of heat softened by sweet notes of honey—all certified organic—Honey Sriracha Cashews are the newest delectable addition to our Tierra Farm nuts in the bulk aisle! Eat them alone or add them to a salad—check out this recipe we sampled recently!

We love Tierra Farm (based in Valatie, NY) not only for putting modern spins on traditional snacks, but for everything they do behind the scenes. They’ve built lasting relationships with some of the best organic nut and fruit farmers in the world and more and more of their purchases are sourced directly from those farmers. Working together with suppliers like this allows them to see firsthand the great efforts that are being made in maintaining a clean environment while preserving organic integrity and ensuring fair business practices throughout the supply chain. Everything Tierra Farm roasts or dries is made in small, hand-crafted batches, in their environmentally conscious facilities which consider everything from packaging to waste reduction, to solar energy. And every year, more and more of Tierra Farm’s operations are powered by renewable solar energy. Learn more about this innovative company here.

Bee’s Wrap Sandwich Wraps

Bee’s Wrap was founded in 2012 by Vermonter Sarah Kaeck, a mother of three. She started with a question facing many families and home cooks these days: How could we eliminate plastics in our kitchen in favor of a healthier, more sustainable way to store our food? What she discovered is a lost tradition made new again. By infusing organic cotton with beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin, she created a washable, reusable, and compostable alternative to plastic wrap.

So, wrap your sandwich for lunch or a snack on the go. Use as a placemat while you eat. Wash and repeat the next day. Also check out Bee’s Wrap in all the other shapes and sizes for storing bread (it will keep a baguette fresh for days—no kidding!), cheese, vegetables, you name it!

As a Green America certified company, Sarah says, “Bee’s Wrap is committed to using our business as a vehicle for social change, and to bettering the lives of our customers, employees, community, and planet.” Thank you, Sarah, for your 🐝bee-utiful 🐝 eco-friendly 🌏 wraps!
