Staff Lactation Space Added at Monadnock Food Co-op

Improving Workplace Breastfeeding

The Monadnock Food Co-op recently completed a Lactation Space for its employees, part of an effort to improve workplace breastfeeding. This private room includes a comfortable chair, a hospital-grade breast pump, and other needed supplies. New mothers will receive a pumping kit and a breastmilk cooler, compliments of our Co-op.

“We couldn’t be more delighted to provide this space to support our new moms who have chosen to breastfeed their babies,” said Sue Ells, Monadnock Food Co-op’s HR Manager. “We value our staff and hope this will make the return to the workplace an easier transition for the employees and their families.”

This project was supported by Keene State College’s Public Health faculty in cooperation with the NH Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health Services, with funding from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The Co-op was one of 34 businesses across the state of New Hampshire to receive grant support.  Learn more about the New Hampshire Breastfeeding Task Force.

When the room is not needed for lactation purposes, we welcome staff to use it for wellness, mindfulness, and meditation.
