RECALL NOTIFICATION // UPDATES

To our Valued Community,

We are following up on the incident of February 10th, where an individual unaffiliated with the Co-op attempted to contaminate products with their urine. Upon notification from law enforcement, we immediately reviewed store video, identified affected products, removed them from our shelves and disinfected all surfaces. We also reached out to members who purchased at-risk products. Upon police investigation this individual likely conducted similar contamination activities at other retail locations. The police made an arrest and are prosecuting the identified individual.

Since the incident, our Co-op has been impacted by reduced sales that were likely exasperated by misreporting of the incident; to clarify this individual has never been employed at our Co-op and no fresh products were impacted by the incident.

Our community’s health and safety remain our top priorities. We have continued to maintain a high level of food safety and initiated our recall policy and procedures. While this was a highly unusual situation, we have increased our surveillance of our store to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.

As a local, community owned business your ongoing support is critical to our success.  Thank you for your trust in us providing the best local, healthy food choices in our community. For additional questions, please contact [email protected].
