Bruce Bickford and Kirsten Anderson of Abenaki Springs Farm in Walpole grow certified organic produce and pasture raised meat. They foster the farm’s soil health to bring nutrient dense food to their CSA members and Farmers’ Market of Keene customers.

In 2020, the farm received a grant from the Monadnock Food Co-op Farm Fund to build a new wash and pack shed. Their new building includes a second level storage space. Also, the sides of the roof extend to cover their walk-in cooler and harvest bins. The space brings a lot of needed equipment all under one roof.

Started in 2017, the Monadnock Food Co-op Farm Fund empowers local farmers to grow their businesses in ways that feel sustainable and right to them. It also helps our co-op broaden its offerings of locally grown, raised, and made foods —that means more local food for you, your family, and our community.

The Farm Fund is made possible through a partnership between the Monadnock Food Co-op and Cheshire County Conservation District. The fund’s mission is to support local farmers to increase sustainable food production for a thriving local farm economy.
