Greetings, Member-Owners!
As fall approaches, it is time once again to vote on issues affecting our Co-op. During this election cycle, Member-Owners will vote for new members of our Board of Directors and on proposed changes to our By-Laws. Voting is easy and can be completed in the comfort of your own home! Participation in voting is both your right and your responsibility as a Member-Owner of our Co-op.
The Board of the Monadnock Food Co-op is pleased to present you with the following slate of candidates, which includes two incumbents and one newcomer. The incumbents are Deirdre (Dee) Fitzgerald and Edwin (Ed) Selby. Dee is currently the President of our Board, and Ed is the Board Secretary. Georgia Tasoulas is running for her first term on the Board. Candidate bios and more information about voting can be found at the following link: monadnockfood.coop/vote. Proposed changes to the By-Laws, along with the reasoning behind these proposed changes and the current version of the By-Laws (2015), can also be found at this link.
Voting will open on October 2nd. There are three ways to vote: via the online election platform, via paper ballot, which can be requested in-store, or by voting in person when you arrive at the annual meeting at Stonewall Farm on October 24th. Packets that include the Annual Report, candidate information, and voting instructions will be sent out on October 2nd.
Please note that each Member-Owner account is allocated one ballot only. Your equity must be paid in full to be eligible to vote. Only the legal owner of the membership may vote — other household members are not eligible. This is also a good time to ask you, our Member-Owners, to consider running for our Board of Directors. Being on the Board is a wonderful way to give back to our Co-op! Working in partnership with our General Manager and your fellow Board members helps ensure that our Co-op runs in a way that is financially responsible, socially conscious, and genuinely responsive to the broad interests of our Member-Owners. Member-Owners are welcome to attend our Board meetings. To do so, contact Dee Fitzgerald ([email protected]) to let her know of your interest in attending prior to the meeting. Meetings are held on the third Monday of every month at 4:45 pm in the Co-op Conference Room.
