RECALL NOTIFICATION

To our Valued Community,

We were informed by the Keene Police Department of an incident which occurred at our store on February 10th where an individual **unaffiliated with the Co-op** attempted to contaminate products with their urine. Upon notification from law enforcement, we immediately reviewed store video, identified affected products, removed them from our shelves and sanitized all surfaces. We also reached out to members who purchased at-risk products.

** No fresh produce, meat, seafood, prepared foods or refrigerated products were affected. **

Our community’s health and safety remain our top priorities. While this was a highly unusual situation, we took swift action in accordance with our food safety and recall procedures. We have also been in direct communication with the Keene Health Department, which has confirmed that no ongoing risks remain. The individual in question is neither a current nor a former Monadnock Food Co-op employee. We continue to cooperate fully with the Keene Police Department and the Keene Health Department regarding this matter.

We understand from the police that this individual likely conducted similar contamination activities at other retail locations in our area.

We are issuing a voluntary recall concerning the following products purchased between 2/10/25 and 2/15/25 from our bulk department:

  • Organic White Quinoa PLU 301
  • Organic Tri-Color Quinoa PLU 312
  • Organic Cornmeal PLU 308
  • Organic Polenta PLU 310
  • Organic Coconut Shreds PLU 403
  • Raw Walnuts PLU 160
