Pop Art Pet Portraits
January 14 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
$50.00Artist Mindy Fisher provides a welcoming, friendly space where students will paint a portrait of their pet. She encourages each attendee to experiment with color and line to develop their own style. We will be using acryla-gouache on an 8×8 panel. The panel is 3/8″ thick, and comes with a predrilled keyhole, so it is ready to hang. Acryla-gouache is a highly pigmented, water based paint that is absolutely lovely to work with. It dries matte and the colors are incredibly vibrant. All materials are provided.
In the class we will go over:
- Introducing each other and our subject matter
- Sketching out the composition
- How to choose a color palette
- Color blocking and outlining
Each student should bring a photo of their pet (printed out or on their phone). Acryla-gouache is permanent, so it is recommended to wear clothing that can get dirty, or bring along a smock or apron. Otherwise all of the materials are provided.
Recommended for ages 8 and up. Younger kids are welcome with a guardian, but I have found 2.5 hours is a bit long for that age range. Many adults love this workshop, especially if they haven’t painted in some time, or want to dip their toes into a creative activity.
Typically students complete their projects in about two hours. Mindy’s studio is small, so the class is limited to 5 attendees.
