Expansion Updates: New Customer Parking Spaces at the Co-op

New Customer Parking Spaces

We are happy to announce that we now have access to 24 new customer spaces in our parking lot. Now, that’s something to celebrate! These spaces will greatly improve your visits to our co-op.

When early organizers came together to form the co-op, they wanted to build an accessible grocery store in the heart of downtown Keene. Locating the co-op on Cypress Street helped us meet this goal. However, since opening in 2013, our co-op has experienced rapid growth and the parking lot fills to capacity more and more often.

To boost accessibility and prepare for a store expansion in 2019, we entered into a long-term agreement with Cheshire Medical Center to lease twenty-four parking spaces adjacent to existing co-op customer parking spaces.

Floor Plan Layout Complete

We’ve also reached another milestone in our expansion project — we completed our interior equipment and floor plan layout. This floor plan is critical to finalizing the equipment list and identifying what utilities are needed throughout the store. We’ve developed a great plan that includes added retail space in almost every department, allowing us to improve our offerings and product selection.  We continue to update and refine our project budget and our architect will begin the intensive phase of developing our construction documents. If everything goes well, we still hope to break ground late fall of 2018 or early spring of 2019.

I look forward to sharing more expansion details in the coming months!
