SUMMARY:introduction to Recognizing and Improving Wildlife Habitat
DESCRIPTION:This day-long workshop will provide a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the basic skills necessary to: recognize important wildlife habitat components on your land\, understand how different habitat features are used by specific wildlife species\, and understand what you can do on your land to create & enhance habitat opportunities for wildlife. \nThis workshop will not be held in the rain. Students will be notified the evening prior to the event if it must be cancelled for bad weather. The scheduled rain date is September 27th. \nSkills and Techniques: \n\nHow to identify common tree & shrub species and how each functions as habitat for wildlife\nHow to recognize common components of wildlife habitat and how each functions as habitat for specific wildlife species\nHow to improve habitat on your land in a manner that attracts wildlife to your land while enhancing the habitat value of your neighborhood.\n\nSpecial Tools or Equipment: Clothing & Footwear appropriate to walk in the woods off-trail and through tall grass. Insect & tick repellent. Binoculars. \nCost: $46.70 (includes lunch)

SUMMARY:2024 Cheshire Veterans Expo
DESCRIPTION:The Keene Family YMCA is proud to present the Cheshire County Veterans Expo on Friday\, September 13th from 10am-2pm at the Keene Family YMCA. Several local organizations that serve our veteran community will be on hand to share information and resources\, and all veterans in attendance can enjoy a free lunch (lunch will be served from 11am-1pm)\, and a free haircut\, courtesy of Jed’s Barber Shop. We’ll also be raffling off some great prizes\, thanks to the generosity of several local businesses. This free event is open to all and will take place rain or shine.\nThank you to all who served. We hope you’ll join us for a day of recognition\, camaraderie and support.\nThis free community event is presented by Keene Family YMCA with support from Savings Bank of Walpole.
