Seed Saving Workshop
September 28 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Love gardening but still find seed saving a mystery? Excited about joining the new seed library?
Join Antioch University’s Anna Turkle and Kelsey Bearden for a seed saving workshop at the Keene Public Library!
This hands-on workshop for beginners covers the seed saving basics: pollination, saving the seeds you actually want, and why it even matters.
Try your hand at wet and dry seed processing techniques. You’ll leave with some great resources and seed for next year!
About the presenters:
Anna helped launch the seed library at the Keene Public Library. Her interest in seed saving developed while working at Nasami Farm in Whately, MA where she learned how to sustainably collect, save, and propagate wild-harvested seed from native plants. She now strives to build a stronger local seed saving network, and inspire the confidence in others to grow and save seeds.
Kelsey is a plucky gardener who has tended gardens from Alaska to Arizona and from California to New Hampshire. She has worked with Native Seeds/SEARCH, a long-standing seed conservation organization in southern Arizona, and is currently learning from Mohawk Seed Keeper Rowen White, director of Sierra Seeds in California. Kelsey has always been enamored with the beauty and possibility of seeds.
