Keene Goes Purple for ALZ!

September 14 @ 8:00 am - September 16 @ 5:00 pm

Currently, in New Hampshire, there are over 24,000 people currently living with Alzheimer’s disease and over 67,000 caregivers. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. Based on these numbers it’s likely that you, your loved ones, or your friends are directly affected by this devastating disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association provides many direct services in our region including support groups, public education, care consultations, a 24/7 Helpline and more. The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the largest fundraiser and awareness event in the Western New Hampshire region that will take place September 15th, 2018 at Keene State College. The Walk is a fantastic day to celebrate, honor or remember loved-ones, and raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. Our Walk raises over $50,000 annually and welcomes over 500 walkers – marching straight down Main Street!

This year, our walk planning committee would like to ask for your help in spreading awareness for our Walk and for the Alzheimer’s Association. Help us create a celebratory atmosphere downtown by having your business “Go Purple” the weekend of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – September 14-16th!

There is no cost to participate. We want to see as many businesses downtown participate as possible! You can go purple in any way that suits your business and creativity. Decorate your windows, change your light bulbs, decorate your mannequins, make a purple menu item, or encourage your employees to wear purple throughout the weekend. Whatever you do, you will help us to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease and help our participants feel special as they stroll down Main Street that Saturday morning.

We hope you will join us and are here to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact our Alzheimer’s Association staff partner, Nicole Francoeur at 617-393-2158 or nifrancoeur@alz.org for more information.
