Cheese Tasting Series at Monadnock Food Co-op


This fall, a Cheese Tasting Series is scheduled at the Monadnock Food Co-op. Agela Abdullah, the Co-op’s Cheese Buyer, will share the art of cheese tasting and offer participants samples of different cheeses at each event.  Participants also receive a discount on any cheese they purchase that night. Member-Owners receive a 10% discount and non-members receive a 5% discount.

The Italian Cheese Plate: Tuesday, September 23, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
This night’s samples include a variety of Parmesan Cheeses such as Parmigiano-Reggiano, Taleggio, Gorgonzola and Regianito (an Argentinian cheese with Italian roots).

American Cheese Month: Thursday, October 16, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
To celebrate American Cheese Month, participants will take their taste buds on a journey across the United States, starting with New England cheeses from with Lazy Lady Farm in VT, Jasper Hill Farm in VT and Sawyer’s Artisan Cheese in NH.

Cheddars: Thursday, November 13, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Participants will taste Cheddars, ranging from 6 months to 6 years in age, along with a few special clothbound Cheddars from the United States.  This sampling also includes a cheese from one of the few cheesemakers left in the United Kingdom making cheddar using traditional methods of cheesemaking.

“The Monadnock Food Co-op carries over 100 different varieties of cheese — from both local producers like Sawyer’s Artisan Cheese in Walpole, to the Italian cooperative producers crafting Parmigiano Reggiano,” said Agela.  “This is an opportunity for individuals to discover new favorites and delve a bit deeper into the nuances that makes cheese so special.”
